Taxi driver's body identified by family

TANGERANG (JP): After four days at the hospital morgue, a body found in Pagerhaur village in Legok district here was identified on Friday as Usin bin Yusuf, a driver of an unlicensed taxi.

The identification was made by the victim's relatives, who reported him missing on Wednesday, or a day after the body was found by residents.

Head of Legok Police First Lt. Parmo quoted the victim's families as saying on Sunday that the body belonged to 50-year- old Usin bin Yusuf, a resident of Jl. Perjuangan, Kebon Jeruk, in West Jakarta.

"The victim's families are shocked to know the fact that Usin was murdered," Parmo said.

Based on a preliminary police investigation, Usin was believed to be a victim of armed robbers.

The robbers were believed to have allegedly killed Usin sometime early last week and dumped his body in a paddy field at Pagerhaur village, before they allegedly took the victim's Kijang van.

The van was usually used as an unlicensed taxi by the victim to get passengers in front of Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) in Harmoni, Central Jakarta.

Usin's dead body was found on Tuesday by local villagers.

His family were recently alerted and decided to check the report from a newspaper about the finding of the unidentified body which had multiple stab wounds and tied hands and feet. (41/emf)
