A Green SM electric taxi driver was dragged for approximately 50 metres while clinging to the door of a BYD electric car at the Tomang Toll Gate exit towards the East, West Jakarta.

According to the Green SM taxi driver, Budi Hendra, the incident occurred on Saturday (19/9) while the BYD vehicle, driven by Agustam, was travelling along the toll road. The BYD vehicle struck the Green SM electric taxi, which was travelling in the same direction ahead of it, according to AKP Joko Sislantwo, Head of Traffic Law Enforcement at the West Jakarta Police, in a statement on Monday (21/9).

As a result of the accident, the Green SM electric taxi sustained damage to its rear right bumper. Consequently, the taxi driver approached the BYD driver to demand accountability.

The taxi driver opened the front left door of the BYD vehicle. However, once the door was open, the BYD driver accelerated, causing the taxi driver to be dragged along.

“Opening the front left door, [he] was dragged by the BYD electric vehicle for 50 metres,” said Joko.

Joko noted that during the incident, the BYD driver provided his identity card (KTP) as a guarantee. Following the event, police visited the BYD driver’s residence using the address listed on the ID.

Joko stated that the dispute between the Green SM taxi driver and the BYD driver has now been resolved through family-style mediation.

“It has been settled amicably,” said Joko.
