Civil servants within the Bima City Government are being urged to immediately settle their rural and urban land and building tax and motor vehicle tax obligations. Failure to comply means the additional employee income may not be disbursed and rank promotions will be postponed. Proof of tax settlement becomes one of the requirements for disbursing the allowance and processing promotion files.

Bima City Government Spokesperson Muhammad Hasyim confirmed the existence of an official instruction regarding the matter. Hasyim stated the policy is based on Law Number 20 of 2023 concerning State Civil Apparatus, and further affirmed in Government Regulation Number 94 of 2021 concerning civil servant obligations and discipline. Civil servants must set an example in fulfilling state obligations such as paying taxes, explained the Head of the Bima City Communication, Information, and Statistics Agency.

The settlement of these tax obligations is stipulated in Instruction Letter Number 239 of 2026, enacted and signed by Bima Mayor A Rahman on 4 June 2026. In the letter, the Mayor instructs the Regional Secretary, heads of regional apparatus organisations, district heads, village heads, unit heads, and primary and secondary school principals throughout Bima City to optimise revenue collection from these taxes as a source of locally generated revenue for the Bima City Government.

All civil servants must settle their land and building tax obligations before the due date of 31 July 2026. Additionally, all civil servants are asked to pay motor vehicle tax and immediately process the transfer of vehicle registration names if they possess out-of-town licence plates. Proof of tax settlement will be used as a requirement for completing promotion files and as part of the paperwork for disbursing the additional employee income for technical staff, certification payments for teachers, and service fees for health workers in July 2026.
