Tax Office Seizes Excavators, Trucks, and Gold to Recover Rp28.7 Billion Debt

The North Sumatra II Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes (Kanwil DJP) has carried out law enforcement through active collection measures, involving the simultaneous seizure of assets belonging to taxpayers who have failed to settle their tax obligations, with total tax debts reaching Rp28.7 billion. This operation was conducted over one week, from 25 to 29 May 202_ [Note: Original text says 2026], across the working areas of Kanwil DJP North Sumatra II, including the Tebing Tinggi, Kisaran, Rantau Prapat, Pematang Siantar, Sidempuan, Sibolga, Balige, and Kabanjahe tax offices.

The operation commenced on 25 May, led directly by the Head of Kanwil DJP North Sumatra II, Mr Dionysius Lucas Hendrawan, alongside tax office officials and initiated by the Head of the Audit, Collection, Intelligence, and Investigation Division, Mr Agus Hilman.

The simultaneous seizure successfully secured assets from 17 taxpayers, comprising 21 items in total. These include 2 units of heavy excavators, 5 trucks, 4 four-wheeled vehicles, 1 two-wheeled vehicle, gold bullion, and 8 savings accounts.

These seizure actions are part of law enforcement in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 19 of 2000 concerning Tax Collection by Distress Warrant (UU PPSP). This follows previous persuasive efforts made towards the taxpayers, which ultimately failed to result in the fulfilment of their tax obligations.

The seized assets serve as collateral for the settlement of tax debts as regulated by law. If the tax debt and collection costs are not settled within the specified period, the collection process will proceed through an auction mechanism.

Kanwil DJP North Sumatra II will continue to perform its law enforcement duties professionally, transparently, and fairly. Through this publication, it is hoped that the public will become increasingly aware of the importance of tax compliance as a primary pillar of national development and the provision of public services for all Indonesian citizens.
