Tax Chief: 9 Million Taxpayers Yet to File Their Tax Returns Despite Coretax Accounts
JAKARTA — The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) of the Ministry of Finance notes that there are around 9 million taxpayers (WP) who have not yet reported the Surat Pemberitahuan (SPT) Tahunan Pajak Penghasilan (PPh), despite having an account in the DJP Coretax system. Director General of Tax, Bimo Wijayanto, said that as of 08:00 WIB on 5 March 2026, the number of SPT Tahunan Tahun Pajak 2025 reported had reached 6,002,570 SPT. That figure is still far from the total number of taxpayers who have activated Coretax accounts.
“We are still waiting for around 9 million other taxpayers. Daily activity already shows an average of 250,000 taxpayers filing their taxes,” Bimo said at a media briefing at the DJP office, Thursday (5 March 2026).
Reports from corporate taxpayers totalled 129,231 SPT for entities using the rupiah and 113 SPT for entities using the US dollar.
“Alhamdulillah, in total, the annual tax returns for Tax Year 2025 have reached 6,002,570 SPT. Personal taxpayers still dominate the SPT filings,” he said.
Furthermore, as of 5 March 2026, the DJP noted that 15,268,493 taxpayers had activated Coretax accounts. In addition, around 12,514,829 individual taxpayers have registered an Authorization Code or Electronic Certificate.
To broaden access to services, the DJP also introduced additional channels within the Coretax ecosystem, namely Coretax Form and Coretax Mobile (M-Pajak).
Coretax Form is an additional channel for reporting the SPT Tahunan PPh for individual taxpayers with a nihil status. Through this feature, taxpayers can download an electronic form from the Coretax system, fill it offline, and then re-upload the form to the system. The feature is intended to assist taxpayers who are accustomed to using forms or who have limited internet access.
Coretax Form has been available since 25 February 2026 and can be used by individual taxpayers meeting certain criteria, such as having income from employment or business, filing the SPT with nihil status, and not using the Norma Penghitungan Penghasilan Neto.
In addition, the DJP launched the Coretax Mobile application or M-Pajak, which enables taxpayers to activate Coretax accounts and register the Authorization Code or Electronic Certificate via mobile devices. The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store or the App Store.
Bimo hopes that the addition of these service channels will spur higher SPT filings as deadlines approach. “If possible, daily taxpayer activity reporting above 250,000, so the remaining around 9 million taxpayers can be completed by the deadlines of 31 March for individuals and 30 April for corporate taxpayers,” Bimo said.
