In 1972 I bought a house on a 300 square meter plot in Condet,
Kramatjati, East Jakarta, for Rp 1,500,000. I made the necessary
repairs in stages and it took 20 years for me to make it into a
really decent house, although it is still far from luxurious.

However, the land and property tax increases every year, which
is very burdensome for a pensioner. I think the authorities only
considers the selling price of a property without taking the
pensioner's resources into account. Poor pensioners! Do they
think that a pensioner should not own a decent house and car,
because he cannot afford to pay the taxes.

I would like to appeal to the officials to consider the
pensioners' fate and the vehicle tax. Why don't they make a
distinction between a luxurious car and a moderate one? They
should also consider the age of a vehicle before setting the tax.
This is necessary in order for a pensioner to be able to afford
to own a car. Pensioners have dedicated themselves to the nation.
So it is reasonable for them to own a house and vehicle.
