Taufik Hidayat's Reconstruction of YTR's Confinement Held at West Java Police HQ, Here's Why

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation for Women and Children (PPA) and Certain Crimes (PPO) of the West Java Regional Police held a reconstruction of the assault and confinement case of YTR (29) perpetrated by her partner, Taufik Hidayat (30). The reconstruction was held at the West Java Police Headquarters due to security factors. “In order to align the evidence and facts of the incident, so we can see the complete sequence, the preliminary work has been done, and today we will carry out the reconstruction,” said the Director of PPA and PPO of the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Rumi Untari, as quoted by detikJabar on Thursday (2/7/2026). When asked why the reconstruction was held at the police headquarters and not at the crime scene, she stated it was done for security reasons, especially since the crime scenes in this case are spread across six locations. “We are looking at the situation and the places; this is not just one crime scene, but several. Primarily from a security perspective, especially since one is a boarding house, we must consider the safety and comfort of the boarding house residents and the owner,” she explained. Rumi said the reconstruction was held inside a building. “The reconstruction is being conducted for six locations, and it is being done indoors, not outdoors,” she concluded.
