Taufik Hidayat's Flight Ends After Police Track His Online Shopping Transactions
Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the kidnapping and torture of a woman with the initials YTR (29) at the Griya Pesona housing complex in Ciparay, Bandung Regency, has been arrested. West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, revealed that the arrest was made after investigators discovered the suspect’s digital footprint through his online transaction activities. “Yesterday morning, the person in question made several transactions. This became a clue for us. The team assigned to Majalaya remained there, searching around the housing complex area and finally, in the afternoon until evening, managed to find and arrest the person concerned,” he said, as quoted on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. After being apprehended, the suspect was first taken to the Majalaya Police Sector headquarters. He then underwent further examination at the West Java Regional Police headquarters. Rudi added that his party is currently conducting a health examination and a drug test on the suspect in accordance with procedure. “We are conducting a health examination to ensure the suspect’s health condition. We also conducted a drug test and the result was negative,” he said. It was previously reported that the flight of Taufik Hidayat (30), the man suspected of kidnapping and torturing his own girlfriend for three years in Bandung, had finally come to an end. After being a fugitive hunted by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police, the suspect was successfully apprehended by the police. This arrest marks an important point in the investigation of a case that has recently drawn public attention. The victim, named YTR (29), was found in a concerning condition with a number of severe injuries suspected to be the result of prolonged violence. The news of the arrest was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan. “Just confirming that he has been arrested. That’s all,” he said on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. It is known that a woman from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java, is suspected to be a victim of kidnapping and abuse by her boyfriend. The woman, with the initials YTR, was allegedly held captive by the suspect, with the initials Taufik Hidayat, in a rented room and was reported missing by her family for three years. After the victim had introduced her boyfriend to her parents, the family lost contact with YTR for years, until she was eventually found in critical condition with severe injuries due to the alleged kidnapping and torture.
