Taufik Hidayat's Confession After Arrest: Expresses Regret and Claims Intoxication During Abuse of YTR
After being successfully captured following a manhunt, Taufik Hidayat (30) has begun to reveal his confession to investigators. The man who confined and tortured his girlfriend, YTR (29), for years admitted to all his actions and expressed regret. During the initial examination, the suspect also admitted to frequently being under the influence of alcohol when committing violence against the victim. This admission emerged after West Java Regional Police investigators conducted a series of examinations, including health and drug tests. West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, stated that the suspect acknowledged his actions were carried out while his consciousness was impaired due to alcohol consumption. ‘He stated that he regretted it, because it was done under the influence of alcohol,’ said Rudi on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. Rudi revealed that, based on preliminary findings, the suspect admitted to frequently consuming a specific type of liquor before committing the acts of violence. ‘Intisari, that’s the drink. A hard liquor, yes. A brand of hard liquor called Intisari, a type of black wine,’ he said. Despite this, the police confirmed they found no indication of narcotics use by the suspect. The results of a drug test conducted after the arrest came back negative. ‘We also conducted a drug test. The results came out earlier and they were negative,’ he stated. Currently, Taufik is being held at the West Java Regional Police detention centre. Investigators are continuing to probe the motive, pattern of violence, and the entire series of alleged confinement and abuse experienced by the victim while under the suspect’s control. According to Rudi, based on the results of a medical examination, the suspect’s health condition is good, allowing the investigation process to proceed immediately. ‘The conclusion is that the suspect is in good health, ready to be detained and undergo initial examination,’ he said. It was previously reported that the flight of Taufik Hidayat, the man suspected of confining and torturing his own girlfriend for three years in Bandung, has finally been halted. After being a fugitive hunted by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police, the suspect was apprehended by the police. This arrest marks a crucial point in the investigation of a case that has recently drawn significant public attention. The victim, identified as YTR (29), was found in a deplorable condition with multiple severe injuries believed to be the result of prolonged violence.
