Taufik Hidayat's Confession After Arrest: Expresses Regret and Claims Intoxication During Abuse of YTR
Bandung, VIVA – After being successfully captured following a period as a fugitive, Taufik Hidayat (30) has finally begun providing his confession to investigators.
The man, who held and tortured his partner, YTR (29), for several years, has admitted to all his actions and expressed regret.
During the initial interrogation, the suspect also admitted to frequently being under the influence of alcoholic beverages while committing violence against the victim. This confession emerged after investigators from the West Java Regional Police conducted a series of examinations, including health and drug tests.
The West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, stated that the suspect admitted his actions were carried out while his consciousness was impaired due to alcohol consumption.
“He stated that he also regrets this, as it was done while his consciousness was impaired due to the consumption of alcohol,” said Rudi, as quoted on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
Rudi revealed that, based on preliminary investigations, the suspect admitted to frequently consuming a specific type of alcoholic beverage before committing acts of violence.
“In essence, it was that drink. An alcoholic beverage, yes. The brand ‘Intisari’, yes. A type of black wine,” he said.
Nevertheless, the police confirmed that no indications of narcotics use were found in the suspect. Drug test results conducted following the arrest were negative.
“Furthermore, we also conducted a drug test. The drug test results came out negative,” he added.
Currently, Taufik is being held at the West Java Regional Police Detention Centre. Investigators are continuing to delve into the motive, the pattern of violence, and the full sequence of the alleged confinement and physical abuse experienced by the victim while under the suspect’s control.
According to Rudi, based on medical examination results, the suspect’s health condition was declared good, allowing the investigation process to proceed immediately.
“In conclusion, the suspect is in a healthy condition and is ready for detention and initial examination,” he added.
It was previously reported that the flight of Taufik Hidayat (30), a man suspected of confining and torturing his own partner for three years in Bandung, has finally come to an end.
After becoming a fugitive and being hunted by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police, the suspect was successfully apprehended by the police. The arrest marks a significant turning point in the investigation of a case that has recently captured public attention.
This is because the victim, YTR (29), was found in a distressing condition with several severe injuries believed to be the result of prolonged violence.
