Taufik Hidayat, Suspect in YTR Confinement Case, Transferred to Prosecutors
The West Java Regional Police have transferred the case file of suspect Taufik Hidayat to the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office. Taufik Hidayat is accused of severe abuse and confinement against a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung.
The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the suspect’s case file had been declared complete administratively and was ready to be handed over to the public prosecutor. The transfer took place after investigators completed all stages of the investigation and fulfilled the requirements as instructed by the prosecutor’s office.
A reconstruction of the case was previously held at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters on 2 July 2026, with the suspect Taufik Hidayat present. During the reconstruction, 21 scenes were re-enacted across three key crime scene locations. The reconstruction revealed a series of violent acts committed by the suspect against the victim, which resulted in serious injuries.
The victim was allegedly confined and abused for nearly three years in a rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. As a result of the prolonged abuse, the victim sustained severe physical injuries, including vision impairment, speech difficulties, and an inability to walk normally.
