Taufik Hidayat, Suspect in Girlfriend's Confinement, Arrested at Relative's Home
The West Java Regional Police have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in a case involving the abuse and confinement of his girlfriend, YTR (29), which lasted for three years. The perpetrator was apprehended at his hiding place in the Ciparay area of Bandung Regency.
“Thanks to everyone’s prayers, at approximately 6.30 p.m. in Ciparay, Ciparay District, in a housing complex called Griya Pesona, we finally managed to locate the suspect and immediately made the arrest,” said West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (23/6/2026).
Following his capture, Taufik was initially secured at the nearest police station before being transferred to the West Java Regional Police headquarters for intensive examination at the Women and Children Service (PPA) unit.
“He was first secured at the nearest police station, Majalaya Sector Police. After that, we brought him to the Regional Police headquarters. As per procedure, as you have seen, the suspect was taken into the PPA office,” he added.
Based on initial examination results, the perpetrator was found hiding at a relative’s residence. Rudi stated that the suspect believed the location was safe enough to evade the authorities.
“According to his confession, the house in Griya Pesona belongs to a relative. He believed it was a safe place. But we had already tracked him down,” he said.
