Taufik Hidayat, Suspect in 3-Year Confinement of Woman, Arrested in West Java
Police have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30) in Majalaya, West Java. Taufik is the man suspected of cruelly confining and severely assaulting a woman identified as YTR (29) in Bandung. In the arrest photograph circulating, Taufik’s face does not differ much from the images widely shared on social media, though his haircut is now different.
Taufik appeared seated in the back seat of an officer’s vehicle with his hands bound by yellow cable ties following his arrest. He was seen wearing a dark hoodie and grey trousers, while holding a bottle of mineral water. Taufik’s hair is now cut short with shaved sides, a stark contrast to the wanted poster photograph previously released by the police to track him down.
Taufik has been taken to the West Java Regional Police headquarters on Jalan Soekarno-Hatta in Bandung for further investigation. The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, confirmed that the details of this case will soon be presented to the public. “Tomorrow (it will be released),” stated Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan.
Taufik was previously named a suspect for the alleged confinement and grievous bodily harm of YTR in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area. The victim is believed to have suffered physical violence for almost three years, resulting in serious injuries across her entire body.
