Taufik Hidayat Surrenders to Police, Not Arrested; Former Boss Played Key Role
New facts have emerged in the case of alleged false imprisonment and abuse against YTR (29), a woman from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency. Taufik Hidayat (30), who was previously on the police wanted list (DPO), was not arrested but instead surrendered to the authorities.
The case came to public attention after YTR was found with severe injuries and underwent intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung. The victim was allegedly held captive and abused for approximately three years by her own boyfriend, Taufik Hidayat. Before the case was uncovered, YTR was known to have lived with Taufik Hidayat in a rented house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency.
Taufik Hidayat reportedly surrendered to the police at a house in the Griya Pesona Complex, Gunungleutik Village, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday, 23 June 2026. The house belongs to Dadang Ahyar Ismail, Taufik Hidayat’s former supervisor from a job several years ago.
Dadang admitted he was the person who persuaded Taufik Hidayat to stop running and face the legal process. Dadang said Taufik Hidayat had contacted him a few days before the surrender, expressing confusion after his case went viral and became a matter of widespread public concern.
“Before he surrendered, TH actually called me a few days ago. He said he had gone viral across Indonesia and asked me what he should do, requesting my help and protection,” Dadang stated on Wednesday, 24 June 2026.
Upon hearing this, Dadang explained to Taufik Hidayat the risks he would face if he continued to flee. “I told TH, first, if you keep running, until when? You will surely get exhausted. Second, because it has already gone viral, you could be caught by residents and beaten to death. Third, if caught by the police, like on TV, you could be shot,” he said.
According to Dadang, after a lengthy discussion, Taufik Hidayat finally decided to follow his advice to surrender. “At that point, I asked him which option he would choose. Then I said, it is better for you to just surrender. He thought about it for a long time, until finally TH said, ‘Alright, I will follow you, Sir, and surrender.’ So then I called the police,” he recounted.
