New facts have come to light in the case of alleged false imprisonment and assault committed by Taufik Hidayat (30) against YTR (29). It turns out that before his arrest, Taufik attempted to visit the official residence of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi to meet him in person. “So, Taufik came to Gedung Pakuan at 4 a.m. WIB, approached the guard post, and while wearing a helmet and a mask, he said, ‘I want to meet the Governor, I am ready to go to prison, but there is something I must convey first,’” Dedi stated, as reported by detikJabar on Tuesday (30/6/2026). Dedi confirmed that the information was not merely hearsay, as it was clearly recorded on the CCTV system at Gedung Pakuan. At the time, Taufik, who had already been named a suspect and was on the West Java Regional Police’s wanted list, was trying to ask the duty officers for help so he could meet the governor. Furthermore, Dedi revealed that Taufik also attempted to visit his private residence in Lembur Pakuan, Subang Regency. However, the plan fell through because the person driving him became frightened. “So that incident and the CCTV footage exist, and he was looking for me and also tried to come to Lembur Pakuan. He got as far as Cikawung, but the driver was too scared to continue, fearing they would be seen by people on the road and beaten up,” he said. According to Dedi, Taufik’s purpose in seeking him out was not to ask for protection from the legal process. “From his language, he was ready to go to prison, but before being imprisoned, there was something he wanted to convey,” he said.
