Taufik Hidayat Re-enacts Assault on YTR Using Bare Hands and Helmet

Bandung, VIVA – The West Java Regional Police have held a reconstruction of the case involving the confinement and assault of a woman with the initials YTR, demonstrating 21 scenes centred on three crime scenes (TKP) and performed directly by the suspect, Taufik Hidayat.

The Director of the PPA and PPO Directorate of the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Rumi Untari, stated that these three crime scenes were selected because they were the primary locations where the confinement and severe assault of the victim occurred.

“We have mutually agreed that the reconstruction will cover three crime scenes: TKP three, five, and six. Because those three crime scenes are the central and important points where the assault and confinement took place,” Rumi said in Bandung on Thursday.

Rumi stated that during the reconstruction, the suspect admitted to all his actions, consistent with the results of the investigation conducted by the investigators.

He explained that the assault was carried out using bare hands as well as several objects, such as a helmet, an iron table leg, and a sharp weapon in the form of a machete.

“Among them were hitting with a helmet, then using the iron table leg at the final crime scene, and also with a machete. The victim does not remember clearly because she was in a blind condition, but the findings at the crime scenes match,” he said.

According to him, the reconstruction was not conducted at the actual crime scenes because the incident spanned six different locations, so it was centralised at the West Java Regional Police Headquarters.

This decision, Rumi said, was made after investigators considered aspects of security and public convenience, given that some locations were boarding houses that were still occupied.

“There are several crime scenes. If there were only one, it could have been done at the location. However, because there are several, we considered the situation of the place, especially from the security perspective,” he said.

He added that another consideration was maintaining the comfort of the boarding house owners and the surrounding environment so that the reconstruction process could proceed safely and smoothly.

“Some locations are boarding houses. We also had to consider the security and comfort of the boarding house owners. That was the main consideration in determining the location for the reconstruction,” said Rumi.
