Taufik Hidayat Met YTR in 2024 Through Tinder App

The West Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, has disclosed how Taufik Hidayat first met YTR. The two reportedly met in 2024 through the Tinder application.

Following their introduction via Tinder, Inspector General Rudi stated that the two maintained a relationship while residing in the same boarding house (kos-kosan).

“This began in 2024, an introduction through the Tinder application. They met, felt close, formed a relationship, and appeared to live in the same house within a boarding house facility,” said Inspector General Rudi at the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 26 June 2026.

Subsequently, Taufik Hidayat and the victim moved between various boarding houses from May 2024 until June 2026. Inspector General Rudi revealed that there were four different boarding house locations inhabited by the pair.

“There were several moves between residences while they were in a relationship from May 2024 to June 2026. Based on the information we have uncovered, there were four residential locations, and we have certainly conducted crime scene investigations at these sites,” he said.

From there, Inspector General Rudi continued, Taufik Hidayat committed acts of assault and torture against the victim. Taufik reportedly burnt the victim with cigarettes and struck them on the head.

“Between May 2024 and June 2026, severe assaults occurred within the Bandung area. The perpetrator committed several acts of violence, including burning the victim’s body with cigarettes and punching the head with bare hands,” said Inspector General Rudi.

He added that the victim’s face and mouth were also struck by Taufik Hidayat. Furthermore, the victim’s ears were repeatedly struck with a helmet.

“Striking the victim’s face, head, mouth, and ears using a helmet (done repeatedly), hitting with a small table, and using a pistol-shaped lighter, resulting in severe injuries to the victim,” said Inspector General Rudi.

“He also performed unlawful confinement by locking the victim in a room and leaving them in a helpless state. This is the incident that has been reported,” he added.

As a result of his actions, the perpetrator faces multiple charges, including Article 466 paragraph 2, Article 451, Article 446 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph 2, and Article 23 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) Law Number 1 of 2023, with a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.
