Taufik Hidayat Met YTR in 2024 Through Tinder App

West Java Police Chief (Kapolda Jabar) Irjen Rudi Setiawan has disclosed the initial meeting between Taufik Hidayat and YTR. The two became acquainted in 2024 through the dating application Tinder. After connecting on the app, Irjen Rudi stated that the pair entered into a relationship and lived together in a boarding house. “This began in 2024, with an introduction through the Tinder app. They got to know each other, became close, were in a relationship, and it seems they lived together in a boarding house,” Irjen Rudi said in Bandung on Friday, 26 June 2026. Subsequently, Taufik Hidayat and the victim moved from one boarding house to another between May 2024 and June 2026. Irjen Rudi revealed there were four boarding house locations where the couple resided. “There were moves in their place of residence while they were in a relationship from May 2024 to June 2026. Based on the information we have gathered, there are four locations where they lived, and we have processed these crime scenes,” he said. From there, Irjen Rudi continued, Taufik Hidayat carried out acts of abuse and torture against the victim. Taufik burned the victim with a cigarette and struck the victim’s head. “Between May 2024 and June 2026 in the Bandung area, severe abuse occurred. The perpetrator committed various acts of violence, burning the victim’s body with a cigarette and striking the head with bare hands,” Irjen Rudi stated. He added that the victim’s face and mouth were also struck by Taufik Hidayat. Furthermore, the victim’s ear was repeatedly struck with a helmet. “Striking the victim’s face, head, mouth, and ear using a helmet (this was done repeatedly), hitting with a small table, and a pistol-shaped cigarette lighter, resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries,” Irjen Rudi said. “And carrying out confinement by locking the victim in a room and leaving them in a helpless state. This is the incident that was reported,” he continued. As a result of his actions, the perpetrator is charged with multiple articles, namely Article 466 paragraph 2, Article 451, Article 446 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph 2, and Article 23 of the Criminal Code under Law Number 1 of 2023, with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years.
