Taufik Hidayat Hit with Multiple Charges, Nine Prosecutors Assigned to Case

Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the false imprisonment and sadistic torture of a woman identified as YTR (29), has been charged with multiple offences. The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office has appointed nine prosecutors to oversee the investigation process.

Nur Sricahyawijaya, Head of Public Relations for the West Java High Prosecutor’s Office, stated on Monday (29/6/2026) that the investigative team had received the notification of the commencement of investigation on 15 June 2026. The nine prosecutors have been assigned to handle and monitor the progress of the investigation against the suspect, identified by the initials TH.

The West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, detailed the brutality inflicted upon the victim. The suspect is accused of holding the victim captive and torturing her using his bare hands, sharp or hard objects, an iron bar, a helmet, a small table, a pistol-shaped lighter, and cigarette burns.

The false imprisonment and torture reportedly took place from May 2024 until June 2026. The victim is currently receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung after suffering blindness as a result of the attack.

The nine appointed prosecutors will continue to coordinate with investigators regarding the case involving the suspect TH.
