Taufik Hidayat Faces 36 Years in Prison Under Three Layered Charges

The Directorate of Child Protection and Trafficking in Persons (Ditres PPA and PPO) of the West Java Regional Police has layered multiple charges against Taufik Hidayat, the suspect in the severe abuse and planned hostage-taking of Yuvita Tri Rezeki, leaving him facing decades in prison. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that following a case review on Friday (3/7/2026), an additional charge of sexual violence was added against Taufik Hidayat. “TH was initially charged under two articles, firstly Article 451 concerning hostage-taking and Article 469 paragraph 1 on premeditated grievous bodily harm,” he said on Monday (6/7/2026). He explained that each of these articles carries a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison. Additionally, the police have charged Taufik under Article 6 of Law Number 12 of 2002 concerning sexual violence offences. “TH is now charged with three layered articles,” he stated.
