Taufik Hidayat Arrested After Drinking 'Intisari' Liquor in Ciparay, Bandung
Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in the false imprisonment and torture of a woman with the initials YTR (29), admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages before being arrested by police in Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, on Tuesday (23/6).
West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan stated that after being secured, Taufik immediately underwent a health examination and urine test.
“As per regulations, we brought the suspect into the PPA office. We carried out the required stages, namely a health examination to ascertain the suspect’s health condition, including a full body examination to obtain the actual condition,” Rudi said.
According to him, the examination results showed Taufik was negative for narcotics.
“We then conducted a drug test and the result was negative. The suspect admitted to drinking Intisari, which is an alcoholic beverage,” he stated.
Based on the medical examination results, the suspect was declared healthy and ready to undergo the investigation process.
“In conclusion, the suspect is in healthy condition and ready to be detained for initial examination,” Rudi said.
Police also plan to present a psychiatric expert during further examination of the perpetrator. Taufik is currently placed in a special cell under strict supervision.
YTR is believed to have been abused and held captive by her boyfriend, with the initials TH, for three years in his rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java.
The 29-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk.
The alleged abuse case was reported by the family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026.
The victim’s older sibling, Melanie Silviani, said the victim is still receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung City.
