Taufik Hidayat Allegedly Temperamental, Challenged to Fight and Threatened to Kill Boarding House Guard
Bandung – Further details about Taufik Hidayat (30), the man who confined and tortured his girlfriend YTR (29), have come to light following the case’s public attention. Behind the closed door of their rented room, other residents admitted they had long observed Taufik’s unusual behaviour but remained silent out of fear of confronting him directly. Resa, the guard of the boarding house where Taufik and YTR lived, recounted a prior dispute with the perpetrator long before the alleged confinement was uncovered. According to Resa, the issue began when he asked Taufik to show his marriage certificate before living together with YTR in the room. Taufik initially promised to provide the document but never did. When Resa followed up about a month later, the response was unexpected. ‘At first, I asked for it and he promised to show it later. After a month, when I asked again for the marriage certificate, he instead threatened to fight me,’ he stated on Thursday, June 25, 2026. To avoid escalating the matter, Resa chose to back down and allowed the couple to continue staying in the boarding house, where they had lived since March 2026. ‘I just admitted defeat because it’s no longer the time for brawling,’ he said. However, the tension did not end there. Resa claimed he faced further intimidation after the alleged confinement and abuse of Yuvita became widely discussed and the victim was taken to hospital. According to him, Taufik arrived with several associates carrying a sharp weapon. ‘He came here with his friends after the commotion at the hospital, bringing a machete, and threatened to kill me if the victim died,’ he said. A similar account was provided by another resident, Indira. She described Taufik as having an explosive temper and said he was often heard getting angry from inside the room. However, Indira noted she never heard major arguments between the perpetrator and the victim. Instead, loud banging sounds frequently came from the direction of their room. ‘There weren’t any big arguments. The most you’d hear were ’thud, thud’ sounds, like someone punching the wall,’ Indira said.
