Taufik Hidayat Admits to Abusing Badung Woman, Blames Alcohol
Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in the abuse and confinement of his girlfriend, YTR (29), has been arrested. After moving between locations for several days to evade authorities, Taufik was apprehended by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police in Bandung Regency on Tuesday evening (23/6/2026).
He was arrested at a relative’s house in the Griya Pesona housing complex, Ciparay District, Bandung Regency, at around 6.30pm local time. Police tracked his whereabouts after detecting financial transactions he made in the Majalaya area of Bandung Regency. Prior to his capture, Taufik had fled to Tangerang but returned to West Java because he felt unsafe and confused.
During initial questioning, Taufik admitted to his actions against the victim, which he claimed had occurred over nearly three years. He stated the violence was triggered by alcohol consumption and arguments with his girlfriend. A drug test conducted on the suspect returned a negative result, though he admitted to drinking a local spirit called Intisari.
Following his arrest, Taufik was taken to the West Java Regional Police Headquarters for examination by the Women and Children Service Unit. He has been placed in a special detention cell under CCTV surveillance. Police plan to involve psychiatric experts in further examinations, noting that the suspect’s actions were excessively sadistic and abnormal.
