TAUD Team Questioned by Metro Jaya Police, Bringing Investigation Documents on Andrie Yunus Acid Attack
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The representative of the Tim Advokasi Untuk Demokrasi (TAUD) investigation team, Ravio Putra, was questioned by the Metro Jaya Regional Police over the Andrie Yunus acid attack case on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
During today’s interrogation, Ravio brought documents containing the investigation team’s findings to show to investigators.
Including CCTV footage that had been arranged in chronological order.
“Starting with Andrie in the afternoon on the day of the incident, 12 March 2026, Andrie’s movements throughout the day from the afternoon until the acid attack occurred at the scene,” Ravio said when met at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Tuesday.
“Because among 16 suspects captured on CCTV in their findings, only two of them match the four defendants presented in court.”
The four defendants are: Sergeant First Class Edi Sudarko, Lieutenant Junior Grade (Lettu) Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
From these 16 people, the investigation team has verified three as members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). The remaining 13 have not yet had their status determined.
“Because from the outset we operate under the assumption that until we have a clear identity, they are civilians. Unless that identity is verified, we will know ‘Oh, this is their profession,’” he said.
“And so, if further investigation and prosecution by the police are not conducted, those involved will remain free out there, and civilians, not only activists or journalists, will always be at risk,” he added.
The case currently underway is a report filed by TAUD at the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian Police, which was then forwarded to the Metro Jaya Police.
In the report, TAUD hopes to apply Article 459 in conjunction with Article 17 and Article 20 of the New Criminal Code (Law Number 1 of 2023) concerning the crime of attempted murder planned to be committed jointly or in complicity.
Additionally, the report will also invoke Articles 600, 601, and 602 of the New Criminal Code, Law Number 1 of 2023, on Special Crimes, particularly relating to terrorism offenses.
“Related to attempted premeditated murder, and also in response to what Mr. Prabowo said recently that the act of assault on Andrie is part of terrorism, so we will also use terrorism provisions,” said Dimas Bagus Arya, Coordinator of KontraS, at the Bareskrim of the Indonesian Police, on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.
He also emphasised that Metro Jaya Police’s handling was considered more effective because they had previously handled the same case.
“If we at Bareskrim were like a petrol station, starting from the beginning again, whereas there, evidence has already been collected and witnesses have already given statements,” he said at Bareskrim Polri, on Friday, 8 May 2026.
