TAUD Requests Military Court Reject Andrie Yunus Case File
The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has requested that the Head of the Military Court 11-07 Jakarta reject the case file for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, submitted by the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta today, Thursday, 16 April 2026. TAUD claims the preparation of the case file lacks transparency and accountability, failing to deliver justice for the victim.
TAUD representative Muhammad Isnur stated that Andrie has never received official updates on the investigation from the Military Prosecutor or the TNI Central Military Police (Puspom). “Andrie Yunus, as the victim, has expressed his objection to the case being processed in a military court, as it becomes a haven for impunity,” Isnur said in a press statement on Thursday, 16 April 2026.
TAUD suspects the swift transfer of Andrie Yunus’s case to court is an attempt by the TNI to protect the intellectual authors behind the terror against Andrie, obscure facts, and avoid public pressure. This is because only four perpetrators are being prosecuted, far fewer than TAUD’s findings, which suggest at least 16 field actors were involved in the incident.
“This transfer further proves efforts to create impunity for TNI soldiers committing general criminal acts,” Isnur said.
Additionally, the severe assault charge applied by the Military Prosecutor to the four suspects is seen as a diminishment of the acid attack on Andrie. TAUD believes the perpetrators should be charged with premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances as per Article 459 in conjunction with Article 17 and Article 20 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. “The acid attack is a weapon directed at the victim’s face or vital organs, constituting an attempt at murder,” he said.
Furthermore, Isnur continued, the report submitted by TAUD regarding their investigation findings to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) Headquarters some time ago has now been transferred to the Metro Jaya Regional Police. Therefore, TAUD requests that the Head of the Military Court 11-07 Jakarta reject and postpone the transfer of Andrie’s case file.
TAUD also requests that President Prabowo Subianto order the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta to return Andrie Yunus’s case file to the Metro Jaya Regional Police for continuation of investigation and prosecution in a general court. “The determination of the judicial forum in this case should not solely be based on the perpetrators’ status as soldiers, but on the nature of the acts committed and their relation to official military duties,” Isnur emphasised.
Previously, spokesperson for the Jakarta Military Court, Lieutenant Colonel (Navy) Arin Fauzan, stated that the court received the case file on Thursday morning. Arin said the court would then review the case file. If the case file is deemed complete, the court will hold the first trial for the acid attack incident carried out by four TNI soldiers on 29 April 2026.
There are four suspects whose case files will be transferred to the Jakarta Military Court. They are NDP, SL, BHW, and ES from the air and naval forces. NDP holds the rank of captain, SL and BHW are first lieutenants, while ES is a second sergeant.
In this case, the Military Prosecutor 07-II Jakarta will charge the perpetrators with layered articles. The layered articles referred to are Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of the KUHP. Then, Article 468 paragraph (1) KUHP in conjunction with Article 20 letter c KUHP, and Article 467 paragraph (1) in conjunction with paragraph (2) KUHP in conjunction with Article 20 letter c KUHP. These articles regulate acts of assault causing serious injuries and premeditated assault, with penalties of 4-8 years imprisonment.
