TAUD Reports Three Military Judges to Supreme Court Over Acid Attack Case
JAKARTA — The Advocacy for Democracy Team (TAUD) has reported three judges from the Jakarta Military Court II-08 to the Supreme Court on Monday (18/5/2026) for alleged violations of the code of ethics and judicial conduct guidelines. The three judges involved are Freddy Ferdian Isnartanto, Irwan Tasri, and Zainal Abidin.
They were part of the judicial panel presiding over the case involving the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus. One of the allegations is that the panel handled physical evidence without wearing gloves.
“There were also inappropriate words used during the trial, such as the word ‘goblok’ (stupid), and they even provided information as if demonstrating the correct way to perform an acid attack,” Daniel told journalists at the Supreme Court on Monday.
Daniel also highlighted the panel’s actions in forcing the military prosecutor to bring the victim, Andrie Yunus, to court. The judges reportedly threatened to prosecute Andrie Yunus if he failed to appear in court. According to Daniel, such threats and biased behaviour towards one party are strictly prohibited under judicial conduct guidelines.
“We believe this constitutes a breach of the code of ethics, which prohibits judges from making threats or acting partially,” he stated.
Guntur added that they intend to further report the alleged violations of judicial ethics and professional conduct to the Judicial Commission and the Supreme Court’s Supervisory Body (Bawas MA).
He emphasised that forcing Andrie Yunus to attend the trial ignored the victim’s psychological condition and his right to medical care. Such actions are deemed likely to exacerbate the victim’s trauma and hinder the physical recovery of Andrie, who remains under intensive care at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
“This certainly causes further trauma for our client, Andrie Yunus. Our colleague was forced to appear and provide testimony, despite the fact that he was never interrogated during the initial investigation process,” Guntur explained.
