The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has assessed the military prosecutor’s indictment against the four defendants in the acid attack case on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus as not meticulous, incomplete, and unclear. One aspect highlighted is the content of the indictment stating that the defendants had known Andrie since March 2025. “We see many irregularities, and the indictment is truly not meticulous, incomplete, and unclear,” said TAUD member Airlangga Julio during a press conference at YLBHI in Central Jakarta on Monday (4/5/2026). This aligns with Article 75 of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). “If we look closely, it states that the defendants knew Andrie when he protested at the Fairmont Hotel in March 2025,” Julio explained. However, according to him, the indictment does not explain the form of this introduction or the context in which the defendants knew Andrie Yunus. Julio also highlighted another irregularity in the indictment. This is because the indictment states that the four defendants only began serving at the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in November 2025. “But they are said to have known Mr Andrie Yunus in March 2025, several months earlier (before the defendants served at BAIS TNI),” Julio said. In addition, TAUD questioned the part of the indictment stating that the defendants gathered to watch a video of Andrie Yunus protesting at the Fairmont Hotel. According to Julio, the indictment does not explain what video is meant or the medium used by the defendants to watch it. “This truly shows how the indictment is not meticulous, unclear, and incomplete,” he added. Previously, the first hearing of the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus was held on 29 May 2026. The agenda of that first hearing was the reading of the indictment against four Indonesian National Army (TNI) personnel accused of throwing acid at Andrie in the Salemba area, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (12/3/2026).
