Tastura Square Park to be Renovated Ahead of Central Lombok's 81st Anniversary
The Central Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), will beautify the Tastura Square Park. The renovation is being undertaken to welcome the 81st anniversary of Central Lombok.
The Vice Regent of Central Lombok, Muhammad Nursiah, stated that Tastura Square Park serves a complex range of functions. Consequently, the Central Lombok Regency Government plans to repair the park located on Jalan Ahmad Yani.
“This square has a very broad function; it is not only an open space but also a tourist destination, a place for sports, community activities, and a space for entrepreneurs to conduct business,” Nursim said to detikBali on Thursday (1/10/2026).
Tastura Square Park currently features several supporting facilities, including a prayer room, toilets, jogging tracks, fountains, fitness equipment, benches distributed throughout the area, dedicated cycling lanes, and park lighting.
For Nursiah, this month is the opportune time to carry out the repairs to Tastura Square Park, as several major events are scheduled to mark Central Lombok’s 81st anniversary.
“Therefore, starting this October, this area will be beautified and rearranged. It does not have to be luxurious, but the existing facilities must be clean, comfortable, friendly, and well-organised,” said Nursiah.
Nursiah wants Tastura Square Park to leave a positive impression on every visitor. He noted that many aspects need to be organised to achieve this goal.
“Whoever comes here must receive a different impression. In terms of arrangement, everything from facilities and community activity areas to parking spaces must be carefully considered,” added Nursiah.
The rearrangement will be entrusted to the Central Lombok Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR). Meanwhile, for the management and other supporting facilities, the Central Lombok Regency Government has appointed specific regional apparatus organisations (OPD) as coordinators.
“With better arrangement and management, it is hoped that this square will truly become a professionally managed urban tourist park, so that in the future, it can become one of the faces of the city and even possess international appeal,” Nursiah hoped.
Nursiah also urged all parties to continue maintaining the cleanliness of Tastura Square Park. He noted that litter is a frequent complaint from visitors on social media.
“We must ensure that nighttime activities do not leave problems for the following day. Cleanliness must be a primary concern because this area will be under the scrutiny of the public and the media,” Nursiah emphasised.
