TASPEN Warns Public of Rising Scams Misusing Its Name, Including AI-Generated Deepfakes

State-owned pension fund manager PT TASPEN (Persero) has issued a public warning regarding a surge in fraudulent activities misusing the company’s identity. The alert comes as scammers employ increasingly sophisticated methods, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to create convincing deepfake content, to deceive pensioners and the general public. Corporate Secretary Henra detailed that detected scams involve fake social media accounts, phishing links via WhatsApp, and bogus offers of financial aid for pensioners through unofficial communication channels. TASPEN emphasised that it never requests administrative fees, one-time passwords (OTPs), PINs, or other confidential data from participants to access services or benefits. The company urged the public to adopt a ‘Hold, Verify, Report’ approach: refrain from immediately trusting suspicious information, confirm details only through official channels such as the ‘Andal by Taspen’ app or the call centre at 1500 919, and report any suspected fraudulent accounts.
