TASPEN Provides Aid to Earthquake-Affected Residents in NTT
PT TASPEN (Persero) distributed humanitarian aid in the form of 400 basic food packages and supporting supplies worth a total of Rp 155 million to residents affected by the earthquake disaster in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Tuesday (18/8/2026). The aid was handed over by TASPEN’s President Commissioner, Fary Djemy Francis, together with TASPEN’s Investment Director, Rifki Isnaini Hassan, to around 450 people at several evacuation points as a form of rapid response and support from TASPEN to communities affected by the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the NTT region on Saturday (15/8/2026).
Fary stated that this assistance reflects TASPEN’s concern for affected communities, particularly in meeting basic needs while in evacuation shelters. ‘TASPEN Group extends its condolences over the disaster and its impact on the people of NTT.’
He explained that TASPEN distributed aid to communities affected by the earthquake in Ngada Regency, which was originally intended to be delivered directly, but due to aftershocks, the aid was handed over to the Kupang City Government. Nevertheless, TASPEN’s Ende Branch Office had already arrived in Ngada Regency earlier to deliver aid directly at evacuation sites as a rapid response.
The supporting supplies distributed by TASPEN to assist affected communities at evacuation sites consisted of seven generator units worth Rp 70 million to support electricity availability. In addition, 25 tarpaulin units worth Rp 25 million were provided as temporary shelter protection, along with 400 basic food packages worth Rp 60 million to meet daily food needs. Medical supplies were also distributed to support the health needs of affected communities.
During the distribution process, TASPEN faced transportation constraints that caused delays in aid delivery. However, TASPEN representatives had arrived at the location since Monday (17/8/2026) to coordinate and ensure that the needs of affected communities could be addressed promptly.
In addition to providing humanitarian aid, TASPEN is also committed to continuing to support its participants and their families in the affected areas. Currently, there are a total of 90,110 pensioners and active TASPEN participants in the affected region, who are part of TASPEN’s focus to ensure participants continue to receive protection and benefits according to their rights during disaster conditions.
‘In addition to basic food packages and supporting supplies, TASPEN handed over assistance to Gekrafs NTT (National Creative Economy Movement of East Nusa Tenggara), which will then send health workers to the affected locations to accelerate the recovery of communities affected by the earthquake,’ Fary concluded.
