TASPEN Provides Aid for NTT Earthquake Victims
PT TASPEN (Persero) has distributed humanitarian aid totalling Rp 155 million to help meet the needs of earthquake victims still living in evacuation shelters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The assistance was handed over by TASPEN’s President Commissioner, Fary Djemy Francis, together with TASPEN’s Investment Director, Rifki Isnaini Hassan, to affected communities at several evacuation points in Kupang on Tuesday, 18 August 2026.
A total of 400 food packages and various supporting supplies were prepared to help around 450 people affected by the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that shook the NTT region on Saturday, 15 August 2026.
Fary Djemy Francis said the assistance was a form of TASPEN’s concern for the people of NTT who are facing a difficult period due to the disaster. “TASPEN Group extends its condolences over the disaster and its impact on the people of NTT,” said Fary.
According to him, the aid was originally planned to be handed over directly to affected communities in Ngada Regency. However, due to aftershocks, the distribution was subsequently carried out through the Kupang City Government. Nevertheless, TASPEN’s Ende Branch Office had already moved quickly to Ngada Regency to deliver aid directly to communities at evacuation sites.
The assistance distributed by TASPEN was not limited to food supplies. The company also provided a number of items deemed essential for supporting community life while in evacuation shelters.
The details include seven generator units worth Rp 70 million to support electricity availability, 25 tarpaulins worth Rp 25 million as temporary shelter protection, and 400 food packages worth Rp 60 million to meet daily food needs. In addition, TASPEN also distributed medicines to help meet the health needs of affected communities experiencing health problems during the emergency response period.
The aid distribution process faced transport obstacles, causing delays. However, TASPEN personnel had been on site since Monday, 17 August 2026, to coordinate and ensure that community needs could be addressed promptly.
TASPEN is also paying special attention to its participants and their families in the disaster-affected area. Currently, around 90,110 pension and active TASPEN participants are recorded as being in the affected area.
TASPEN has ensured that participants continue to receive protection and benefits in accordance with their entitlements amid the disaster conditions. Fary said this commitment is part of TASPEN’s efforts to remain present in supporting participants and the public in emergency situations.
In addition to logistical assistance, TASPEN also handed over aid to the East Nusa Tenggara National Creative Economy Movement (Gekrafs NTT). The assistance will support the deployment of health workers to the affected area to accelerate the community recovery process.
“In addition to food packages and supporting supplies, TASPEN also handed over assistance to Gekrafs NTT, which will then send health workers to the affected locations to accelerate community recovery,” said Fary. TASPEN hopes the assistance can ease the burden on communities while supporting the post-earthquake recovery process in NTT.
