TASPEN Launches 'Green Miles' Programme to Encourage Low-Emission Commuting
PT TASPEN (Persero) has launched the Green Miles Programme to encourage employees to adopt low-emission modes of transport as part of efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and strengthen the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles within the company. Corporate Secretary of TASPEN, Henra, stated that the programme represents a concrete step by the company to involve employees in contributing to carbon emission reduction through more environmentally friendly commuting habits. “The Green Miles Programme is a tangible step by the company to encourage active employee involvement in supporting carbon emission reduction and building a work culture that is more environmentally conscious. TASPEN believes that simple habits carried out consistently can contribute to a better planet,” Henra said in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday. The programme, launched to coincide with the commemoration of Global Energy Independence Day on 10 July 2026, invites employees to choose more sustainable modes of transport, such as walking, cycling, using public transport, or carpooling. The Green Miles Programme will run from 10 July to 9 October 2026. During this period, employees are asked to document their eco-friendly journeys and upload them via a platform provided by the company. According to TASPEN, the programme is part of the company’s strategy to strengthen ESG implementation while building a sustainable work culture. In addition to the Green Miles Programme, TASPEN is also running several other sustainability initiatives, including the installation of 20 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar panels, the implementation of a cloud-based Energy Management System (EMS) at its Jakarta I branch office, the development of a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL), increasing the target for electric operational vehicles, and planting tens of thousands of trees across various regions in Indonesia. The company stated that these various programmes are part of efforts to strengthen a culture of sustainability and support the company’s transformation in line with sustainable development targets, energy security, and environmental conservation.
