Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT TASPEN (Persero) has disbursed Work Accident Insurance Programme (JKK) benefits worth Rp832.87 million to the heirs of the late Nurijah, a government employee on a work agreement (PPPK) at the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Secretariat of Riau Islands Province, who died as a result of a work accident despite having been a programme participant for only around six months.

The benefits comprised treatment costs of Rp649.56 million, a death benefit due to work accident of Rp182.99 million, and a refund of contributions together with Old Age Security (JHT) benefits amounting to Rp312.8 thousand.

TASPEN Corporate Secretary Henra said the value of JKK Programme benefits is not determined by the length of membership, but rather by the type and impact of the work accident in accordance with prevailing regulations.

“As a social protection programme for civil servants, JKK benefits are granted based on the type and impact of the work accident experienced by the participant, as well as benefit entitlements regulated under prevailing provisions. This protection also covers accidents occurring within the employment relationship, including accidents during the journey from home to the workplace and vice versa,” Henra said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

Nurijah had only been appointed as a PPPK employee, and thus a participant of TASPEN’s JKK Programme, for around six months. While travelling home after work, she was involved in a traffic accident after the motorcycle she was riding collided with a car.

The victim received medical treatment before eventually passing away on 10 July 2026. All benefit entitlements were subsequently disbursed to her heirs in accordance with the JKK Programme provisions.

According to Henra, the case demonstrates the function of the JKK Programme as a form of social protection for civil servants and PPPK employees when facing work-related accident risks.

Regionally, as of June 2026, TASPEN’s Tanjungpinang Branch had disbursed JKK and Death Insurance (JKM) benefits worth more than Rp9 billion to 646 participants and heirs.

Nationally, in the first half of 2026, TASPEN disbursed JKK and JKM Programme benefits totalling Rp652.7 billion to 50,392 participants and heirs.

The company stated that it continues to strengthen service quality through the development of a Center of Excellence in order to provide social protection that delivers benefit entitlements swiftly, accurately, and easily for participants and their families when facing work-related risks.

These efforts also align with the strengthening of a social protection system for civil servants that is adaptive, inclusive, and sustainable, through improved service quality and accelerated benefit disbursement.
