Task Force Yonif 753/ATV Secures Cannabis Field in Oksamol, Pegubin
Task Force Yonif 753/ATV has secured a cannabis field in Tomka Village, Oksamol District, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, Papua Highlands. Pangkogabwilhan III Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto stated on Tuesday that 169 cannabis plants were found at the site. The plants are believed to have been cultivated in the forest around Tomka Village and were ready for harvest when discovered.
"Information received reveals that the cannabis plants are a logistical source for the KKB, which after being harvested would be sold to the public," said Lucky Avianto. He added that to anticipate the entry of dangerous goods, including narcotics, his command will inspect the readiness of the TNI’s combat fleet for use in the war against drugs.
Kogabwilhan III declared it will wage war on narcotics as a tangible manifestation of the TNI’s commitment to safeguarding the seventh point of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita, which emphasises and calls for a total war against drug trafficking. Pangkogabwilhan III also called on all elements of the nation to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the TNI in the war against drugs, especially after TPNPB-OPM spokesperson Sebby Sambom previously called for the legalisation of cannabis cultivation in Papua. "That call is a real manifestation of the KKB’s efforts to damage and destroy the mental and spiritual wellbeing of the community, particularly the young generation who are the future of Papua," said Lieutenant General Lucky Avianto.
