Task Force Urges 16 Ministries to Expedite Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation Programme
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, in his capacity as Chair of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, has urged 16 ministries and agencies to immediately execute their respective programmes. Speaking at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, Tito stated that these 16 entities, out of a total of 32 implementing the master plan, have already received their budget allocations. He stressed the need for swift action now that the funds have been disbursed.
The 16 ministries and agencies include the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. Other recipients are the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Creative Economy, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Statistics Indonesia (BPS), the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development, and the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform.
The rehabilitation and reconstruction master plan, prepared by the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas), is scheduled to run from 2026 to 2028 with a total budget requirement of Rp100.1 trillion. Tito noted that affected provincial and local governments have also received an additional Rp10.6 trillion in regional transfer funds (TKD) to implement parallel recovery programmes. He reminded local administrations to use these funds, along with Rp268 billion in presidential assistance for unforeseen expenditure, strictly for disaster mitigation purposes. Tito further instructed ministries that have not yet received their proposed allocations to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance, which has confirmed the availability of funds for the 2026 fiscal year.
