Task Force PRR Distributes Kitchen Equipment Aid in Bener Meriah

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Post-Hydro-Meteorological Disaster in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, distributed aid to survivors of the hydro-meteorological disaster in the temporary housing of Desa Tunyang, Timang Gajah Subdistrict, Bener Meriah Regency, Aceh. In a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, it was mentioned that the aid consisted of 222 packages of kitchen equipment and dining utensils, accompanied by two 2,000-litre water storage tanks. These aid packages were distributed to support the acceleration of recovery while helping to meet the basic social and economic needs of disaster survivors residing in temporary housing (huntara) in Desa Tunyang. On that occasion, Tito expressed that the condition of disaster survivors in Desa Tunyang is now far better than two months ago, in line with the completion of huntara construction equipped with adequate public facilities such as sanitation, children’s play areas, sports facilities, a community hall, and a mosque for community activities. “This (huntara) is extraordinary; I haven’t seen many like this. It’s very neat, and the faces of the people are clearly different from when we came two months ago—they were crying; here they are already smiling and laughing,” Tito said. As a follow-up step, Tito stated that he would ensure various other social aids are promptly distributed, consisting of living guarantee aid (jadup) worth Rp15,000 per person per day for three months. On the other hand, there is also housing contents aid worth Rp3 million and economic stimulus aid worth Rp5 million per family head. Furthermore, Tito also requested the Bener Meriah Regency Government apparatus to accelerate and complete the data collection of permanent housing (huntap) recipients. This is because there are two models of huntap construction that need validation, namely in-situ huntap or at the original location and communal huntap in one complex. “So, I need that data as soon as possible. Then please (they) be visited, Mr. Regent (of Bener Meriah, Tagore Abubakar), what is the choice of the residents,” Tito said. According to Tito, the speed and completeness of data from local governments (pemda) are key factors in accelerating huntap construction so that disaster survivors do not stay in huntara for too long. The visit by the Head of the Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, to Bener Meriah is part of a series of agendas to review the progress of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction, as well as to monitor the latest developments in the condition of disaster survivors in Aceh. On that occasion, also present were the Director General of Regional Administration Development of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Safrizal Zakaria Ali, Deputy Governor of Aceh Fadhlullah, Regent of Bener Meriah Tagore Abubakar, and the ranks of the Local Leadership Coordination Forum throughout Bener Meriah Regency.
