Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Task Force (Satgas) for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Post-Sumatra Disaster reported that community activities are beginning to recover following the cleaning of mud carried by landslides and floods in Aceh Province, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).

Quoted from the Satgas PRR statement in Jakarta on Thursday, data from the task force on 6 April recorded that 527 disaster-affected locations buried in mud have been fully cleaned.

The breakdown shows that in Aceh, 480 locations have been cleaned out of 519 targeted sites. In Sumut, 18 locations have been cleaned out of 24 targets. Meanwhile, in Sumbar, all 29 targeted locations have been fully cleaned.

The current achievement indicates that more than 92 percent of mud-buried locations due to hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra have been successfully cleaned. This progress also shows advancement in mud cleaning compared to 2 April 2026, when only 445 locations had been cleared of mud.

The Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Post-Sumatra Disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, emphasised that mud cleaning remains a priority for recovery in post-disaster Sumatra.

The cleaning process is carried out in two stages. The first stage focused on opening national road access, which has been 100 percent completed and functionally reopened since 25 January 2026.

Meanwhile, in the second stage, activities will target mud cleaning focused on three types of locations: schools, office areas, and public facilities such as community health centres, mosques, and others.

The Satgas PRR also specifically deployed Praja from the Institute of Domestic Government (IPDN) to assist with mud cleaning in Aceh Tamiang Regency.

The third wave of IPDN Praja was deployed on Saturday (4/4), with 731 personnel accompanied by 37 civil servants (ASN) from the Ministry of Home Affairs to clean mud at 42 locations, including residential areas, drainage, and public and social facilities.

β€œThe main target is to resolve issues still affected by mud, some of which has hardened, including historical sites (Istana Benua Raja), as well as community homes, drainage, and others,” said Tito while leading the opening roll call for the third wave of IPDN Praja Pratama PKL at Istana Benua Raja, Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday (4/4).
