Task Force Head Tito Reminds Disaster-Affected Regions to Accelerate Additional Regional Transfer Fund Realisation
Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian, in his capacity as Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, has reminded disaster-affected regions to accelerate the realisation of additional Regional Transfer Funds (TKD) and regional grants. This step is crucial as disaster management in Sumatra has entered the rehabilitation and reconstruction recovery phase. Previously, under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, the central government disbursed additional TKD amounting to Rp10.64 trillion for provinces, regencies, and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. The additional TKD was provided to regions both directly and indirectly affected by the disasters. Tito stressed that the additional TKD must be utilised optimally and immediately. Affected regions are asked to prioritise recovery, particularly the repair of damaged infrastructure. Meanwhile, regions not directly affected can use the budget to strengthen disaster mitigation. “For those not affected, please use it for disaster anticipation. The scope is broad. I am giving very wide latitude for its use. It can be used to build and strengthen roads, bridges, and infrastructure in disaster-prone areas,” Tito said while chairing a Coordination Meeting on the Acceleration of Financial Assistance Realisation for Sumatra virtually from Building A, Ministry of Home Affairs Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (17/6/2026). On that occasion, Tito also appreciated several local governments that received additional TKD but provided grants to affected regions still requiring support. These included the Medan City Government, Deli Serdang Regency Government, Padang City Government, and South Solok Regency Government. According to data from the Sumatra PRR Task Force, almost all grant assistance has been transferred to recipient accounts. However, Tito expressed regret that one grant remains unrealised, namely the grant from Labuhan Batu Regency to Gayo Lues Regency. “Only one remains, from Labuhan Batu to Gayo Lues. After we checked where the problem lies, it turned out the issue is in Gayo Lues,” he added. Consequently, Tito reminded the Gayo Lues Regency Government to promptly complete the necessary administrative requirements so the grant funds can be used for post-disaster recovery. He did not hesitate to warn of potential sanctions if the matter is not resolved swiftly.
