Task Force for Daycare Governance to be Formed Following Little Aresha Case
There are many aspects that we must improve moving forward, from standardisation, licensing, programme integration, integrated information systems, and so on, including field supervision, incentives, and disincentives,” said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture in Central Jakarta on Thursday (30/4/2026). He stated that efforts to prevent the recurrence of child abuse in daycares will be followed up immediately. “We agreed earlier to establish a task force on improving daycare governance as quickly as possible, both for the long term, medium term, and very short term, which will also be formulated promptly,” he said. He emphasised that the Little Aresha case cannot be tolerated. He added that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the state to provide solutions to citizens’ problems. “As repeatedly instructed by the President, the state must quickly address societal problems and enhance the quality of services to the public, including in this daycare case,” he said. He noted that the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture will coordinate with various institutions for improvements. He hopes that abuse cases in daycares can be prevented. “So, the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture continues to coordinate with ministries and agencies, the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, the Ministry of Home Affairs, regional governments, and other ministries, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission, and the police regarding the handling of the Yogyakarta daycare case,” he said. He stated that law enforcement against the perpetrators of child abuse in Little Aresha will continue. He added that the victim will also receive accompaniment. “The closure and sealing of the Little Arissa daycare has been carried out. Then, the National Police, in this case the DIY Regional Police, has also enforced the law; the law enforcement process is ongoing, and at the same time, there is victim accompaniment overseen by the Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection and other ministries. In the field, many city and provincial service agencies are actively involved, the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Service, the Indonesian Child Protection Commission also for trauma healing services for the child and the victim’s family,” he said. He stated that the government will establish a single integrated portal related to daycare regulations. He assured that the government will protect children. “Of course, the government gives no tolerance whatsoever to violence against children. We are obliged to provide protection to children, to give them the best possible care and education,” he said.
