Task Force Chief Tito Hosts Iftar and Delivers Aid to Lhokseumawe Community
The Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, hosted an iftar gathering at the Grand Mosque of the Islamic Centre in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, yesterday. During the event, he also distributed community aid to representatives of the public and provided financial assistance to representatives of orphaned children.
In his address, Tito expressed appreciation for the progress of accelerated post-disaster recovery in Lhokseumawe. He noted that the pace of recovery in the city had been achievable thanks to the support and active involvement of all parties. He also acknowledged that the impact of the disaster in the area was not as severe as in other parts of Aceh.
He urged all segments of society to remain patient and to draw wisdom from the experience. Tito also cited a verse from the Quran conveying the importance of patience.
“Behind every hardship, God will bestow goodness. As the English saying goes, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” Tito said in a written statement on Saturday (21/2/2026).
Tito also called on local government officials and the community not to give up in the face of disaster. He appealed to all parties to continue praying for an accelerated recovery, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
“The most powerful weapon is prayer. So let us pray that each of us becomes even stronger,” he added.
Furthermore, Tito announced that the community aid distributed included 500 worship supply packages — comprising sarongs, mukenahs, prayer mats, and copies of the Quran — from President Prabowo Subianto. Additional aid included 2,000 pieces of headscarves, trousers, and shirts, as well as 200 jackets and vests for children and adults.
“Everything we have distributed is brand new. And it is all export-quality goods — hopefully it will be of help. During this holy month, I am delighted to be able to break fast, perform Maghrib, Isha, and Tarawih prayers at this mosque in Lhokseumawe,” he concluded.
Also in attendance at the event were Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah, Lhokseumawe Mayor Sayuti Abubakar, Lhokseumawe Deputy Mayor Husaini, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum across Lhokseumawe, and other relevant officials.
