The Task Force for Accelerating Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (Satgas PRR) following the Sumatra disaster continues to expedite the construction of permanent housing (huntap) and temporary housing (huntara). This aims to provide decent accommodation for survivors of the hydrometeorological disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).

Head of Satgas PRR post-Sumatra disaster, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, explained that the strategy to accelerate huntap and huntara construction is a step towards providing decent housing for disaster survivors.

As a follow-up measure, Satgas PRR is gradually accelerating huntap construction. However, the acceleration of huntap construction heavily depends on the speed and completeness of data collection by local governments (pemda).

This is because there are two huntap models that need validation from recipients: construction using an in-situ scheme (built at the original location) or relocation to communal areas.

β€œThe key to huntap is data. I respectfully request fellow regents and mayors to form a small team for data on houses that are severely damaged or lost. Ask them one by one: do they want in-situ self-construction with a stimulus of Rp60 million given in two stages, or in-situ handled by BNPB. The second option is building in a communal complex,” said Tito in a written statement on Friday (3/4/2026).

Satgas PRR data on Friday (3/4) recorded an increase in the number of completed huntap and huntara in the three affected regions.

The details show 230 huntap units completed out of a total planned 35,368 units, with 1,240 huntap among them under construction.

Aceh recorded 104 huntap units completed out of 26,418 planned units, with 395 units under construction.

Meanwhile, in Sumut, 120 huntap units were completed out of 5,690 planned, with 404 under construction.

In Sumbar, six huntap units were completed out of 3,260 planned, with 441 units under construction.

This achievement in accelerating huntap construction is carried out in parallel with huntara construction for evacuees to avoid living in emergency tents.

Satgas PRR data for the same period recorded 17,084 huntara units completed in the three affected provinces, or 89% of the target 19,135 units.

Aceh has the highest huntara construction, with 15,259 units completed out of 17,281 planned, or 88% progress.

In Sumut, 995 units were completed out of 1,024 planned, or 97% progress.

In Sumbar, huntara construction has been fully completed at 830 units.

In addition to accelerating huntap and huntara construction for disaster survivors, Satgas PRR is also disbursing Housing Waiting Funds (DTH) for survivors who do not choose to live in huntara.

The amount of DTH disbursed is Rp600,000 per month for 3 months, or each family head receives a total of Rp1.8 million.

As of Friday (3/4), all recipient accounts have received the fund transfers, with a 100% disbursement rate for 14,021 recipients in the three provinces.

The breakdown is 8,099 recipients in Aceh, 4,162 in Sumut, and 1,760 in Sumbar.
