Tasikmalaya High School Teacher Allegedly Involved in Unsoed Student Admissions Bribery

The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) suspects a high school teacher in Tasikmalaya, West Java, is involved in an alleged corruption case regarding new student admissions at Jenderal Soedirman University (Unsoed) in Central Java.

“One high school teacher in Tasikmalaya is suspected of acting as a coordinator for collecting prospective students,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Friday (11/9).

Consequently, Budi stated that the KPK searched the teacher’s house as part of a series of raids conducted on 9–10 September 2026. Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) against several individuals from the Unsoed Rectorate ranks on 20 August 2026.

One day later, the KPK named the Rector of Unsoed, Prof. Akhmad Sodiq, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Norman Arie Prayogo, the Head of Academic Affairs at Unsoed, Eko Sumanto, Mulyono (Sodiq’s nephew), as well as Dian Mulia Wardhana and Adhi Wiharto acting as intermediaries, as suspects in the alleged corruption case involving Unsoed’s new student admissions.

The KPK suspects that Norman, through Dian and Adhi, extorted the parents of prospective students for up to Rp650 million to secure admission to the Faculty of Medicine, though the students were ultimately not admitted.

Furthermore, the KPK suspects that Sodiq instructed his nephew to accept payments from prospective students’ parents, totalling up to Rp680 million during 2025–2026. Sodiq allegedly used this money to purchase three plots of land, which were registered under Mulyono’s name.

Finally, the KPK suspects that Sodiq granted approval for passing students to Eko after the Head of Academic Affairs received Rp1.12 billion from a collector working as a teacher during the 2025–2026 period.
