Tasikmalaya City Government Holds Affordable Food Program to Stabilize Prices
The Tasikmalaya City Government held the Affordable Food Program (GPM). In collaboration with Bank Indonesia, the Food Security, Agriculture and Fisheries Office, and Bulog, the GPM was held at the former Muncang Terminal field, Kawalu District.
The Head of Kawalu District, Iing Sugirman, said that the GPM was held to curb the inflation rate. Some of the commodities sold have relatively low and affordable prices for the community.
“This GPM activity receives subsidies from the West Java Provincial Government and the Tasikmalaya City Government,” he said.
In the GPM, various types of basic necessities are sold. Among them are SPHP rice sold for IDR 57,500/5 kilograms, Minyakita for IDR 31,000 per 2 liters, flour for IDR 9,000 per kg, beef for IDR 130,000, chicken meat for IDR 38,000, japlak chili for IDR 60,000, medium rice for IDR 14,500 per kg, cooking oil for IDR 16,500 per liter, granulated sugar for IDR 17,500, red curly chili for IDR 55,000 and large red chili for IDR 60,000.
Yuliani, 44, a resident of Muncang, Kawalu, admitted that the prices of basic necessities sold at this GPM are cheaper than market prices.
Another buyer, Toto, a resident of Gunung Putri, Kawalu District, said that the most basic necessities purchased in this GPM were rice, cooking oil, flour and granulated sugar.
“The price is cheaper than the market. The others, the price is almost the same as the price in traditional markets,” he said.
