Tarumajaya Village in Bandung Regency has successfully won the prestigious Paritrana Award. This achievement has received positive attention from the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal. According to him, the village deserves the award because it has been assessed as successful in providing real protection for its residents. The Paritrana Award trophy was handed over directly by the Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin, on Friday, 8 May 2026. During the event, Cak Imin emphasised that social security is the state’s commitment to protecting the workforce from social risks and economic pressures. The absence of protection for vulnerable workers can have fatal impacts on family economic stability. “Vulnerable workers have very high socio-economic risks. If they experience work accidents or pass away, their families are at risk of falling into new poverty,” said Cak Imin. In response to this achievement, Cucun assessed that Tarumajaya Village has become a pioneer. He described the social protection innovations in the village as a tangible form of the state’s presence at the most basic level. “Congratulations to Village Head Ahmad Iksan and the people of Tarumajaya. This achievement is concrete proof of village leadership with high empathy for the fate of vulnerable workers. Tarumajaya Village has shown that with strong political will, we can provide security for farmers and small traders,” said Kang Cucun. The Deputy General Chairman of the PKB DPP added that the social protection initiative implemented by Tarumajaya Village is very much in line with the central government’s vision in strengthening the social safety net in society. He hopes that this breakthrough does not stop at one point but becomes a role model that can be duplicated by thousands of other villages in Indonesia. “When villages are strong and their residents are protected, that is where the foundation of the nation’s economy becomes solid. I encourage every village government to start prioritising employment social security as a crucial instrument in maintaining domestic economic resilience,” concluded the legislator from the West Java II electoral district. For information, the Paritrana Award is an annual award resulting from collaboration between the Central Government and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. This event is held to honour parties that have proven successful in expanding the coverage of employment social security for the welfare of workers in their regions.
