Tarnishing Telkom's name
Tarnishing Telkom's name
From Media Indonesia
Regarding complaints of deception via the telephone allegedly
committed by officers of state telecommunications company
(Telkom), I would like to inform the public that Telkom has never
organized a lottery with an automobile as the grand prize in
connection with either Jakarta's anniversary or National Day
celebrations.
Telkom always notifies its customers by mail and not by phone.
We therefore urge the public not to be trusting of any callers
claiming to be a Telkom officer and telling them over the phone
that they have won a prize. If there is such a call, please
contact Telkom's Public Relations Department, Regional Division
II at (021) 5215203.
Recently, there have also been cases of people, claiming to be
Telkom officers, going to houses, particularly in South Jakarta,
and asking if they could borrow a ladder to fix a bad telephone
connection in the area. The ladders are not returned. This has
tarnished Telkom's reputation.
In this context, Telkom's Regional Division II, would like to
caution the public against of such deceit. Telkom officers
carrying out their tasks are not allowed to borrow anything from
the public as they are provided with sufficient tools and
equipment, including ladders. The public has the right to turn
down a request made by a Telkom officer in this regard. If
possible, note down the identity of the person, too.
