Targeting the Ketapang–Gilimanuk Route, the Minister of Transportation and ASDP Continue to Strengthen National Ferry Services
PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero) continues to strengthen the transformation of national ferry services through strategic collaboration with the government. In an audience between ASDP’s board of directors and the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, ASDP discussed strengthening operational services, infrastructure readiness, and optimisation of national logistics connectivity. Dudy expressed appreciation for ASDP’s performance during the 2026 Lebaran transport period, which was deemed to have run smoothly, especially on the main Merak–Bakauheni route. “The management of vehicle and passenger flow that is increasingly organised, strengthened cross-stakeholder coordination, and optimisation of services are considered successful in maintaining smooth mobility for the public during the mudik and return flow periods,” said Dudy in his statement on Thursday, 7 May 2026. Throughout the mudik period from H-8 to H+8 at 06:00 WIB, the total number of passengers on 15 monitored national routes reached 4.72 million people, an increase of 6.6 percent compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the number of vehicles crossing was recorded at 1.21 million units, up 8 percent from the same period last year. This increase reflects the high mobility of the public, balanced with optimal ferry service management during the 2026 Lebaran transport. Nevertheless, the government also notes the need to strengthen services on several other strategic routes such as Ketapang–Gilimanuk, which still faces challenges of logistics density and road access conditions. “The Ministry of Transportation together with ASDP will continue to strengthen anticipatory measures through optimisation of ship operation patterns, utilisation of supporting ports, and development of more adaptive service schemes,” he said. The President Director of PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry (Persero), Heru Widodo, stated that the government’s appreciation serves as motivation for the company to continue improving services sustainably. “ASDP conveys thanks for the support and appreciation from the Minister of Transportation for the Lebaran transport services that have run well,” said Heru. “The evaluation and guidance provided will serve as an important foundation for ASDP to continue strengthening the quality of national ferry services,” he added. In addition to discussing passenger services, the audience also highlighted strengthening national logistics connectivity through the development of long-distance ferry (LDF) services. Several potential routes, including Makassar–Semarang and Panjang–Jakarta, have received government support to be followed up as part of efforts to increase the efficiency of goods distribution between regions.
