JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Rosan Roeslani has revealed that the government is currently preparing to build a financial centre or family office similar to the system in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to Rosan, this discussion is being deepened with the National Economic Council (DEN). Currently, all regulatory aspects are being formulated to ensure that the Family Office scheme can operate effectively and provide benefits to the national economy.

“And most importantly, how it can truly function if implemented, but we are detailing this. Our team is quite intensive between DEN and the Ministry of Investment. It seems we will adopt more of the family office system in Abu Dhabi,” he said when met at the Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Monday (13/4/2026).

Further, Rosan stated that the team from the Ministry of Investment/BKPM and DEN has conducted intensive discussions to formulate the necessary regulations.

He will also ensure that the system built can truly function to attract funds from global wealthy families.

This CEO of Danantara added that the family office model being studied is likely to refer to the system implemented in Abu Dhabi, as it is considered one of the most successful in the world.

“It seems we will use more of the Family Office system in Abu Dhabi, because it is one of the most successful. We are proceeding with that,” he said.

Currently, his side continues to communicate with parties in Abu Dhabi to deepen various technical factors that can be refined if the concept is applied in Indonesia.

One of the aspects discussed is the legal system to be applied, namely Common Law. In addition, the Government is also calculating the potential funds that can enter if the family office scheme is successfully built and attracts global investors.

For information, quoted from Investopedia, a family office is a private entity that manages the wealth of conglomerates to be reinvested.

Through this project, conglomerates can obtain facilities from the government, one of which is tax exemptions.

Taxes will only be imposed on profits from the investments made.

In the personal financial services industry, a family office is a private wealth management advisory firm that serves individuals with ultra-high net worth in the conglomerate category.

Generally, they are people with investments exceeding $30 million or equivalent to Rp 498.62 billion (exchange rate Rp 16,600).

Although similar, the family office concept differs from investment management companies.
