Targeting Global Markets, Jakarta Provincial Government Supports MSME Optimisation at CIEIE 2026

The Jakarta Provincial Government is supporting its fostered micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to penetrate global markets through participation in international trade events, such as the China (Indonesia) International E-Commerce Industry Expo (CIEIE) Indonesia 2026, which will be held at Hall B-C, JIExpo Kemayoran, on 3-5 September.

Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Rano Karno, assessed that CIEIE can serve as a means for Jakarta MSMEs to expand their business networks and meet international partners.

CIEIE 2026 will bring together buyers, importers, distributors, retailers, and marketplace sellers with suppliers, factories, and brand owners from various categories. In a single visit, business actors can compare products, prices, minimum order quantities (MOQ), samples, and cooperation opportunities.

“This forum strengthens Indonesia-China economic and trade relations. This means it opens greater opportunities for Jakarta MSMEs to enter the international market, particularly China,” said Rano in Taman Sari, West Jakarta, on Monday (24/8).

As part of optimising support, the Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared to send 23 curated MSMEs to the China International SME Fair (CISMEF) 2026 in Guangzhou, China, on 3-6 September 2026. The participation of these business actors is packaged through the Choose Jakarta programme.

Previously, three fostered Jakarta MSMEs also participated in the China Food Trade Fair in March 2026. Promotional efforts in the international market also include facilitating business meetings with global buyers, importers, distributors, and retailers.

Rano added that strengthening the export competitiveness of MSMEs is an important part of Jakarta’s economic transformation. The processing industry sector recorded a contribution of approximately 11.13 percent to Jakarta’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2025.

Going forward, the direction of Jakarta’s industrial development is focused on developing high-value-added and high-technology industries that apply environmentally friendly principles. This development is also integrated with the modern services sector and the halal ecosystem.

“The hope is that the holding of CIEIE does not stop as merely an exhibition, but produces concrete cooperation, new investment, broader market access, and business opportunities for Jakarta MSMEs,” concluded the Deputy Governor.
