Tarakan Customs Destroys Illegal Goods Worth Rp 248 Million, Including 54,000 Cigarettes

The Tarakan Customs and Excise Office has destroyed state-owned goods resulting from enforcement actions conducted between September 2025 and January 2026. The destroyed items were dominated by 54,000 sticks of illegal cigarettes of various brands, along with other illegal commodities such as used clothing, beverages containing ethyl alcohol, sharp weapons, and cosmetics, with a total estimated value of Rp 248,394,820. The public destruction event was held on Thursday, 18 June 2026, and involved various agencies, including elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the National Police, and the prosecutor’s office. Head of the Tarakan Customs Office, Wahyu Budi Utomo, stated that the destruction represents accountability for the management of seized goods that have been designated as state property, as well as an effort to protect the community from the circulation of illegal goods. He affirmed the office’s commitment to enforcing customs and excise regulations and maintaining state revenue through consistent supervision and inter-agency collaboration.
