Tapin Proposes Meratus Road Integration into 2026 Presidential Instruction
Adequate road connectivity is a vital factor in reducing logistics costs, accelerating the distribution of agricultural products, and enhancing community mobility between regions. The Tapin Regency Government of South Kalimantan Province has proposed several strategic road and bridge sections for inclusion in the 2026 Presidential Instruction (Inpres) for Regional Roads, aiming to strengthen connectivity within the food, energy, and tourism zones of the Meratus Mountains.
The Regent of Tapin, H Yamani, stated that the proposals focus on infrastructure development capable of smoothing the distribution of agricultural yields and opening access to potential areas that have previously been hindered by poor road conditions. “Tapin has prepared a list of proposals for the 2026 Regional Road Inpres, oriented towards strengthening food and energy self-sufficiency corridors, while simultaneously supporting the development of the strategic Meratus Mountain tourism area,” Yamani said in Rantau, Tapin Regency, on Monday.
According to Yamani, the existence of Presidential Instruction Number 11 of 2025 regarding the Acceleration of Regional Road Connectivity to Support Food and Energy Self-Sufficiency presents an opportunity for regions to obtain support for strategic infrastructure development. “Adequate road connectivity is a crucial factor in lowering logistics costs, speeding up the distribution of agricultural products, and increasing the mobility of people between regions,” he noted.
In addition to supporting the food and energy sectors, the Tapin Regency Government also targets the construction of access routes to the Meratus Mountain area to accelerate the development of premier tourist destinations in South Kalimantan. Yamani mentioned that better road access has the potential to increase tourist visits while creating new business opportunities for the communities surrounding the tourism areas.
Currently, he stated, the Tapin Regency Government is finalising the proposal documents to ensure they meet central government requirements, including the alignment of technical data and priority development zones. “We want to ensure that all submitted proposals truly meet the applicable regulations and provide significant benefits to the community,” Yamani added. He further expressed optimism that the Regional Road Inpres programme could drive accelerated regional development, particularly in strengthening inter-regional connectivity and ensuring equitable regional economic growth.
