Tanzanian Ambassador Emphasises Collaboration in Palm Oil Genetic Resources
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ambassador of Tanzania to Indonesia, Macocha Moshe Tembele, emphasised the importance of international collaboration in developing the palm oil industry, one of which is through the release of palm oil genetic resources (SDG). Tembele stated that the release of SDG is not merely a scientific activity but also a symbol of partnership between Indonesia and Tanzania. According to him, the two countries, separated by the Indian Ocean, share common goals in advancing the agricultural sector. “We are not only releasing genetic resources but also celebrating science and partnership. This is a story of collaboration between two friendly nations separated by the Indian Ocean but united by shared goals,” he said in a statement quoted in Jakarta on Wednesday. Tembele also highlighted the importance of cross-country cooperation as a practical solution to facing global challenges. He affirmed that innovation will develop through the exchange of ideas, resources, and expertise between countries. Furthermore, he appreciated the collaboration of various parties, including the Indonesian Palm Oil Entrepreneurs Association (Gapki), the Ministry of Agriculture, research institutions, business actors, and the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) in successfully releasing the palm oil SDG. According to him, the experience gained by Tanzanian researchers during their time in Indonesia will serve as important capital in developing the palm oil industry in their country. In closing his remarks, Tembele emphasised that this SDG release is not just a technical activity but a symbol of partnership, knowledge, and future opportunities. The release of the palm oil SDG was also attended by executives from Gapki, the Plantation Fund Management Agency, the Indonesian Quarantine Agency, the Central Quarantine Agency for Animals, Fish, and Plants of North Sumatra, as well as 14 partner companies in the Indonesian palm oil germplasm plasma consortium.
