Tanker Ship Hit by Unidentified Projectile Near Strait of Hormuz
London (ANTARA) - A tanker ship was hit by an unidentified projectile off the coast of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday (3/5) night, according to a report from the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). UKMTO stated in a post on the social media platform X that they received the report around 7:40 p.m. GMT on Sunday, or 2:40 a.m. WIB on Monday (4/5), from the vessel. According to the report, the ship was struck by the projectile while sailing approximately 144.45 kilometres north of the city of Fujairah, UAE, which is near the Strait of Hormuz. All crew members of the tanker are safe, and no environmental impact has been reported, UKMTO said in the advisory. Authorities are investigating the incident. Ships are advised to proceed with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO, the agency stated. Media reports on Monday also mentioned that the British military said a ship was hit by a projectile in the Strait of Hormuz.
